Wow, David! Very cool model. The decalwork looks fantastic !!

Always good to see a model of a real racecar  8) 8) 8)

David, this body style is one of my least favorite on race cars, but you make even those look good!

Yes sir David, you got the look right on this one too but I knew you would.  One look and there is no doubt who's car and when.  (just dont look under it)   This is about as on the money for looks as any Phillips car I have ever seen built---other than your Chevelle-----and if Larry was around, he would love it I am sure.  Beautiful tribute car and it does Larry and his many fans proud.  Great job again and may the critics start in the back!!   Two thumbs up and that is because I only have two thumbs or it would get more!

Great job again and may the critics start in the back!!

For the record, no criticism of David's fine modeling. Just not my favorite type of racer. BUT, I would happily sit in the bleachers and watch them race.

I don't think there is any problem there Marty, David or myself would even let you in the bleachers for free but you would be restricted to the Uecker Section.

If that is the case, I'll bring my telescope. :)

Marty, since you know what the Uecker Section is, you are OK in my book!!!  You will fit in very well in this circus old Chap.  And by the way............If they ever turn those bleachers around, you'll be Sit'n on the Front Row.

Thanks, LT. I am not exactly a new guy, except to this site. I was formerly on Fred's old site for several years, along with many of the current members here. I went by "car toon" there.

....If there ever is a Larry Phillips Museum erected in Springfield, Mo. ,show casing his racing history, this build would most definitely need to be a displayed artifact.....and I mean this most sincerely.

This build has been an inspiration , of sorts, for me.  As much as I would really like to do the winged Mustang that he drove in the '81 season ....which would be my first ever replica build if I could pull it off...I cant find any real clear pictures of all of the sponsors, contingency stickers, etc....but like Lefturns75 pointed out, the car more than likely could have changed from race to race or even with in the racing event itself....maybe I could take some artistic liberties?

Another part of this builds inspiration was purchasing some bodies from Gator.  I really want to do a build like what you have done here utilizing a NASCAR chassis as the foundation....something easier and less complicated than a scratch build.

Another awesome replica. As usual it looks exactly like the photos of the 1:1 car. Your talent for this hobby is truly amazing.

David, did you do a "how to" on this car somewhere?

Thanks David, I looked for it but couldn't find it. I just got 3 of these bodies from gator last week, but have never used the nascar chassis yet.

I missed this somehow. Very cool David. Looks spot on!  I gave a couple of late models in mind and will probably steal some of your chassis tricks. Tb
