Need help I.D ing a body

  I'm needing help I.D ing this body.  I am trying to fill out a form for next weekends Ad Astra model club show and having some more information on this body would be most helpful.  I have reason to believe that this is an out of production aftermarket resin cast body.  I have looked at a couple hours worth of American coupes from the 30's on the internet....some were close but not quite.

 It’s a 40, or 41 Willys with a quarter window cut into it. You can tell by the shape of the door window, and the split rear window.

 THANKS Olderndirt.... Its definitely a Willys    The quarter windows were throwing me off as they don't match anything, so I have another question.  With the body being an aftermarket piece, could I presume that a 1:1 body could have had quarter windows cut into it to reduce weight making the body less top heavy or am I out in Left field?  I've noticed other modified bodies from the 30's - 40's that had body modifications done to them to make them lighter/lower.

Brian, quarter windows to some extent, and holes cut into the back corners of the upper body, to a greater extent, were attempts to release trapped air that created drag. Some places made the holes illegal, as well as enlarging the rear window opening. So, the next best thing was to enlarge, or in this instance creat quarter windows.

Anyway.............  I think it's a pretty mean looking racer.

Brian- That is an old RMR chopped '41 Willys Coupe resin body. It has been out of production for several years although you may see one pop up every now and then on WorthPoint or EBay. The opera windows were installed by the builder and they were sometimes cut in more for vision and slight top-weight reduction. Side windows (and sometimes rear windows) were enlarged primarily to make entering/exiting the car easier, especially in a roll-over situation.   

  So that's it as far as I'm concerned ...... it's chopped '41 Willys Coupe from RMR w/ "custom" opera windows.  Thanks David and thanks Olderndirt, both of you are a huge help.

Anyway.............  I think it's a pretty mean looking racer.

 
  No kidding....I cant recall seeing a Willys bodied modified anywhere.  Whoever built this model sure has a creative mind for unique builds

Case closed. 

But I happen to know that the builder of the model was not the one who cut  out the opera windows.

I'm sure David is referring to the builder of the 1:1 scale version as far as the opera windows go.... it's apparent that the builder of the 1:25 version chose other areas of the build to concentrate on.
