Clorox bleach?
Oven cleaner?
Paint remover?
Especially in Northern Iowa during winter.......
TIA

I use Westleys white wall cleaner or a cheaper brand I got at the Dollar General.
Dollar General brand is "Black Magic BLECHE WHITE tire cleaner".
I usually put it in a small pan, so the parts are completely covered overnight. Then brush them with and old toothbrush.
Sometimes I may need to soak them a second time and brush again.

I use “Purple Power” from the automotive dept. of Walmart. I had problems with oven cleaner making some plastic brittle.

:) I use LA's Totally Awsome Cleaner from Dollar General for a little over $3.

I always try bleach first. It often works in minutes with some kit chrome. Other times it takes a bit longer. Sometimes it doesn't work at all.
-
I always use bleach too but noticed the newer kits chrome seems to be resistant to it. Westley's usually works. Oven cleaner is just too nasty.

I've had very good results with Liquid Plummer. It has not harmed the plastic. I put some in a glass jar-enough so the piece can be submerged and leave it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Some chroming is a little more difficult to strip in that short of time so I leave it in longer. When completely stripped I wash in warm water and soap and let the part air dry. Fordguy01

I use Purple Power, have to watch getting it on your hands for a long duration though! It is acidic!!

I have 3 old bottles of Westley's tire cleaner that I have used over and over.
I use it for chrome or paint stripping.
I pour it back in the bottle with a small funnel. I strain it through a piece of blue shop/paper towel to get out the impurities.
Simple Green works for me as well.
Wear some nitrile gloves......

Simple Green? That's a new one on me. I will have to give that a try next time.

Purple power, simple green, and awesome, all work without damaging the plastic like oven cleaner.
