Verlin Eaker #36
« on: April 15, 2019, 11:59:37 AM »
Just starting on this "replica" of Verlin Eaker's hemi-powered car from 1966.  Special thanks to David Bogard for his extra set of the Greg Holland decals.  Probably won't post many pictures of this build, as I try to 'duplicate' David's build from last August.

Not that this is a big deal, but I believe the 1:1 car actually was a 1965 Dodge.  Going through some old scrapbook newspaper clippings, I read that the owners purchased the Dodge from 12-time IMCA late model champ Ernie Derr to run on the short tracks in 1966 & '67.  The following year (1968) they also bought Ernie's 1966 Dodge to run the IMCA late model series.

David - I think these cars are one-in-the-same;  #36 is from 1966, #7 1967, and 07 1968.  Not sure of all the owners, but Larry Schulte bought #7 and made it 07 for the '68 season.  Anyway, thanks again...by the looks of your tutorial there is plenty of work ahead!.

Going to be fun to watch this build.  Really like his "racing suit" in the picture of the #3 Dodge.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

A few interior shots taken a couple weeks ago.  The final completion pics will be under the "Cars with Fenders-production bodies/late models"  heading shortly.
