Keep getting sucked back in.........
« on: February 02, 2019, 05:04:43 PM »
So I get a text from my buddy that says something like:  "If I do something stupid and buy another modified are you interested or are you done with this racing stuff?"  I don't think I'll ever be done with this sickness :D.  So off we go used car shopping and he buys an asphalt modified.  We've pulled the motor and sent it out for a refresh, and have been going through everything else to inspect and replace stuff that's worn out or would make a good spare.  We started hanging the new graphics, and I think this will look real sharp when we're finished.  Hard to think of the racing season when it's 10 below outside the shop, but it's something to look forward too!

We're pretty realistic with our expectations, so we always try and make it fun.  With the last car we raced, we got it running consistently around 10th.  We rarely had new tires on it, so just focused on getting it handling decent and mechanically prepared so we didn't drop out of the features.  We'll probably run about a dozen races and maybe haul it to one big show if get going decent.

Yea...it may be 10 below or so now, but opening day for the racing season wont wait on the weather....the days and weeks are going to start flying by quickly, hopefully you and buddy have plenty of "Midnight oil" available.
Best of luck on this years racing season.

So our timing was spot on...after a long cold winter we used our last gallon of "midnight oil" about a week ago after we got the motor back and put it in the car.  Thrashed a bit this week to test fire the motor and get everything buttoned up.  It finally stopped raining today and we had a sunny but cool day for a test and tune session.  We ran a bunch of ten lap sessions and tested set-ups and tire stagger. The car ran real good and we're excited for the season to get started. Here are a few pictures of the car.

It's officially named the Wyoming County International Speedway in Perry, New York.  Most refer to it as "The Bullring."
