:)   How many of you guys have ever struggled with a model, and hoped you could just hold it together long enough to get pictures for a forum ?

I think for me, that's what I call my "mock-ups". I get these brilliant ideas in my head, mock them up and then say "oh, this is gonna be a lot more work then I thought.

:)  lol   Thanks to all.  We do what we can, don't we.  After all, isn't all of modeling just an experiment ?  You just see what you can do.  Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

Well...to me...the mockup is a necessary step in fabrication. What other way is there to see if what you just measured and cut..fits. In the 1/1 and in the scale world...If a builder didn't mock up the pieces he just made...and just set them aside for attachment on down the build...he or she would be in for a WHOLE lot more work fixing stuff at a later date. Not good.

There is one kit that needs to be test fit while trying to build it out of the box.....The Grant King Sprint/Supermod kit.
And it starts with putting the frame together!
Found that out when building the first one of those kits, which happened to be the supermodified. Found out the "jig" to help put the frame together was tooo wide, belly pan would not slide on over the frame rails. Thankfully the glue had not yet set......The sprint hood needed/needs the inside of the cowl area to really be shaved to fit around the front of the roll cage. Nose cone, exhaust openings on the side panels all needed work.
Those are the main items I remember having to deal with for that kit.

I mock up every thing I build, like John says, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't,so I just start over. That's why it takes me weeks to build something

:)  Well, those were my thoughts with the yellow and white 11 car.  I had quite an ordeal getting those wheels on the front.

I wound up cutting the nubs off the spindles, making 4 flat discs, one for each wheel, and one for each spindle, and glued them on back to back.  At least it kept all 4 wheels on the table.

So, the pictures were taken, it was shown to you, it goes on the shelf, and that's that.
