When I moved from my apartment to a nice bachelor pad condo two years ago, I took down my bench and put all my built models and most of my boxed kits into storage. I did keep all the kits I could hold on my shelves in my new basement. Came across some cool started builds that I am working on. In fact, I probably have at least six projects going.  This one is a MCW Resin 60 Biscayne on a Monagram Impala chassis.  Hope ya like it!

Added paint and started on a motor. A Chevy W block 348/409 if I can manage to get it to fit.

Looking real good so far. I like the winged Chevys  though the 59 was a bit over the top, the 60 was better. My best friend had one just like this, 2 dr sedan. What have you got in this for a motor?

In fact I am looking to get a 60 Impala hardtop in order to build a stock car from that.

:) :)  The key words there being " so far".  That's a joke from Fred's long ago.
So glad you are back, and building again, Slim.

Looking good.

Does that happen to be Cameo corral paint on the bottom of that car?

It's very close to the color many GM cars were painted with in the late fifties, and easily sixties. Maybe one shade darker, but its very close. I love this model, its gonna be great.

I'm a Chevy guy but never liked the 59/60 body style but you've made me like this one. Very beastly looking and a serious race car. Really like all the work you've done!

Didn't think there would be any problem putting the "W" motor in there as the 348 was an option in 1960 along with a 4 spd transmission from the factory. They made the 348 with a tri power induction as an option but NASCAR only allowed one 4 bbl, starting back some time in 1957 I believe.

Man that is going to look Great I love 50s and 60s short track stock cars especially the full size cars like this. unless you can make it to a nostalgia race for these cars you will never see them in action. Even then the guys in the cars are mindful of crashing it and also the cars are pristine these cars were original that way for 1 or 2 races then they received some character, but they all looked great to me.....

Thank you fpo the comments, fellas. the inspiration for this build we're the cars like this that raced on  the banked asphalt of O'Hare and other Chicago area tracks such as  Illiana, Raceway Park, etc. Around 1962 or so they cut the tops off and raced as convertibles! Imagine 20 or 30 big cars , like this, on a high banked quarter mile bull ring!
