AMX Javelin Vintage Racer replica
« on: February 07, 2019, 05:16:02 PM »
This here is a replica I built a couple years ago of my brother John's race car that he races in Vintage races in Wisconsin. He was lucky enough to win the Oktoberfest Vintage race in 2014 after which we turned the real car into a replica of Tom Reffner's Superamerica Blue Knight Javelin. Last year, 2018, Tom himself actually drove the car in the Oktoberfest Vintage race placing 4th at the age of 78. Anyway, this kit started out as a built kit I bought off of ebay. The chassis is from a Monogram Pennzoil Pontiac Grand Prix. I had to do a lot of modifying to get the cage to be in the same location as the real car. I made all the decals myself using AutoCad. May of 2016 I gave it to John for his birthday, he was blown away!

Cool looking racer....clean build! Didn't see too many of these cars on the dirt tracks.

Excellent replica build and thanks for the history also.
It's fun building replica's, but even better when you can give the build to the driver or car owner.
I have experienced this with a couple builds and the look on there face is will worth the time and effort.

Mr Glibwrench, that is one of the only AMC racecars I've ever seen and easily the best.  The quality of your paint and decals is simply superb and the stance is so true to the real car.  This really is a standout model, congratulations sir!
Cheers, Alan
