LMM circa 1964 Walter Wallace
« on: June 05, 2018, 11:35:15 AM »
Anybody from Nashville, remember Walter Wallace? This '58 Ford was powered by a 427 front oiler and really ran well!
Born in Nashville, Tn. grew up attending races at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

Wouldn't some 58 fords make cool models. Had a 58 Fairlaine 500 with the 332 interceptor V8 not the 352 but it would spin the tires off with a quick second gear.

Did AMT, Revell, or any model company ever produce a '58 Ford? And/or ever reissue it?"

One of a few body styles (year) that I've always liked, like the early 60's Chevy II's.......

Ed, AMT did the 58 as a Hardtop and Convet. as annual kits.  Those have never been re-issued.  The kits had no engine and the hood was molded shut.  The only option today is resin or open your wallet for an original kit or original Promo.

One of my best friends in high school had a ‘58 2door sedan. It had a 312 with a 3speed. That old 312 would literally turn a 3speed transmission into a hand grenade every time you missed a shift. He blew so many transmissions up, that we started carrying all the stuff to pull a transmission, in case we just happened to run onto one in our roaming around. That old Y block didn’t make any RPM’s but it made torque by the ton.

Seem to remember AMT did a number of annual kits of various cars back then that did not have an engine and hood molded to the body. Remember one of my brothers had an early '60's Edsel that was like that.......have a feeling that I may had ended up with that build (unpainted) and eventually destroyed it........this is the only one that comes to mind at the moment.....
