David Pearson ASA Camaro
« on: March 17, 2022, 06:55:20 PM »
David Pearson's short track ASA Camaro.......Started with a Revell #17 Superflo ASA Camaro chassis with several modifications, added front and rear bumper bars and lengthened the chassis 1/4"and built the cold air box behind the radiator so it could stand up straight. Body is from the AMT 70-1/2 Baldwin Motion kit.....replaced pretty much everything from just in front of the firewall, built the front fenders, lowered the roof and replaced the A-posts. Also opened the trunk and re flared the sides and rear quarter panels, they were rolled in way more than the chassis would allow for a good fit and look I wanted. Resin nose and lower bumper with a few changes. Tamiya pure white, satin black and Italian red along with Testors Extreme Lacquer Icy Blue for the roof. The hauler just behind the photo of the real car is on the workbench now. Thanks for looking

:)  This is great.  Got to see David race that car once.

Excellent build.  Really like those short-trackers of big-time legends.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

I replied on another site too, but this thing is beautiful. The 1:1 is one of my favorite race cars.

Just a truly wonderful model rendition of the real thing. It helps a lot that Pearson has long been one of my favorite drivers also. I can remember NASCAR racing back into the late 1950's and he was a growing legend even back then when just starting.

Pearson won his first race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, near Spartanburg, in 1954, at the age of 19. He was driving a 37 Ford Flatback that day. He was NASCAR Champion 3 different times. The last car he built to race, mostly in "legends" racing was also a 37 Ford Flatback that he and a friend built. He last drove in 2008. I want to build a model of that last car but am waiting for decals hopefully.

He was just an outstanding human being, racing was just one of many good things that he did. He will be remembered for sure.

Wonderful model of a Camaro!!

Especially this one, David Pearson was my all time favorite driver, allways chewing and smoking, i like that!!

I love all of the racecars of the Silverfox.

Very well done, canĀ“t wait to see the hauler.

Great work on the chassis and body!  That body looks like it was made for that chassis and visa versa.  I think that the mix of an older Camaro body on an ASA chassis is pretty cool.
