here's a photo for a 32 ford jalopy , the builders has finished building the roll cage and about to fit the body on the chassis . this photo was taking the winter of 1964 and was ready to race the 1965 season at Tulsa fairground speedway , its  really cool to see how they built this roll cage and how and where they put the door bars , mounting the seat  and how the steering gear/steering wheel

hope a photo like this can help a builder out when they are scratch building  a roll cage on the next master piece

That is a very suffisticated jalopy. Out here, in those days, virtually nobody had cages with mandrel bends, and nothing had that many cross braces in it either. That looks like the early West Coast modifieds style chassis.
A friend found an old jalopy chassis in a barn a few years ago. When I looked at it, the hair stood up on the back of my neck. It's a wonder any of those guys survived. It was so rough that we took it around to a couple of old jalopy racers, and asked if this was typical. They assured us that this one was one of the better ones. What little padding the cage had was shop rags wrapped with electrical tape.
