What's wrong with 1962?
« on: June 08, 2017, 09:34:35 AM »
I have a big soft spot for '62 Fords. I owned a '62 Fairlane in high school, that my wife and I took on our honeymoon. My parents owned a '62 country squire that I took my first driving test in. Try doing a three point turn in that land yacht. My question is why doesn't anybody make models of these cars? They raced both these cars, they're not nearly as ugly as the '60, or the '64, what gives? I know you can get an annual kit if your independently wealthy, so why not kit them. Even resin bodies for these cars are scarce.

I have to agree with you, at least partially - the 64 is a whole lot better looking.  The '62 was an AMT annual available in both hardtop and convertible.  I guess those molds were some of the "lost" ones as were the '63 Pontiac Bonneville hardtop molds.  Would really like to see both of these rereleased.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. I won my first short track race, and several more,  in a '62. Recently found one with a busted windshield post that wasn't too expensive. Hopefully, I'll get it repaired and do that car.

Funny thing about that 1959 Ford. I think its one of the ugliest of any Ford, but the numbers show different!

You are right Rett, the '62's seem scarce out there. You know I have some stuff stashed and I honestly only have one '62 Galaxie and it is a built up awaiting a rebuild one day before I die, I hope.
Born in Nashville, Tn. grew up attending races at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
