I've got a problem. I recently moved into a mobile, around 1100 sq. ft. I've got nearly 100 built models currently stored in my daughters garage. I have no place to display them as I did before. (I had a 960 sq. ft. garage where my hobby room was). What to do? I don't want to trash them, I doubt that it would be worth trying to sell them but something has to be done....Any ideas?

I can send you my address ;D ;D
You can have my address too. :P :P
I have begun to contemplate that myself Rett. I was going to try to put 4 or 5 together at a time and sell each little grouping as a "lot" on EBay or something. Surely there are enough good parts and other things in there that somebody would want them and even if you just got pennies on the dollar, at least they would be going to some model builder out there for potential recycling or rebuilding. We don't have many shows around here or I would try to sell them again as "lots" at a show. Just the thoughts I was having.
:) Welcome to the club, Rett. I went through the same thing last year when I moved to the apartment. I gave away a bunch to our members, if they would only return the shipping charges. Might work for you.
I have space for those left, but what about the future ? I have 20 more to build.
Rett, here is what I do with most of my models.

I have the cases to display in, just not enough wall space to put them up. Thanks just the same. I'll figure something out I'm sure.

I was the lucky recipient of some of John's builds :).....I still have them and hope to get some shelving put up some day so that they can be properly displayed in what will come to be known as the "John Gorday Collection" in the viewing gallery.
Johns idea is a good one, at least you know that they will be going to good homes. Another possibility would be to sell in lots of like builds or kits. If you decide to try and sell, you might consider doing it after the new year when disposable income isn't being spent on the holidays.
My bucket list of must have's is getting shorter, but there's still some kits or builds that I still keep an eye out for.
This person buys collections, and I have bought model kits from him in the past. If any of you decide to sell off your builds, you might not get a whole lot for your model collections, though.

Rett....
Have dealt with Fred's Model World quite often. He is a good one to deal with, though, i have not sold any to him, but it is where I've gotten quite a few of my kits.Recent;ly came up with an OLD Replica & Miniatures Turbo Offy conversion for the somewhat more common Gurney Eagle race cars, which are of the Gurney Olsonite Indy cars (#48 & #42) ...
While you may not get rich on selling things to Fred, it would still be better than tossing them out.....
It's not easy tossing kits and builds out, I know far toooo well.....

No way would I just toss them out! Couldn't do it! lol I would possibly strip some down for parts tho. I guess I'll just have to see what happens. Thanks for clueing me in on Fred's site.....

Rett,
Most of those times the "dumping" of kits were because of moves, when I was not building, along with cross country moves.
My 1st move was from my hometown to SoCal in early 1972, Since that move, I've moved 19 more times, most were around the LA Metro area, then cross country to Orlando, FL for 4 years, then on to Albuquerque, NM for 9 years, then back to my home town......
One reason so many builds got dumped for the move from FL to NM, was I had it in my mind to get back into model railroading. In checking out a couple of hobby stores in ABQ I about fainted when I saw what ready-to-run HO scale items cost! up around $100 for a "cheap" diesel Locomotive, back when model car kits were STILL under $20. Needless to say I did not go that route. One of the first kits I bought was the AMT/Model King Tobias '35 Chevy coach, featuring FRW build/art work on the box. That's how I discovered FRW web site. and away things went.......
So, in hindsight, yes, I keep "kicking myself" for dumping all those builds for the move from FL to NM.......But, as "they" say: "What's done is done."
Man, that's a lot of moving! As an adult I moved from my house in Wisconsin to my house in Florida, to my present place. Quite a difference from you! lol. Now, on top of all that, I just screwed up paint job on my present build! It's in the tank right now and I started another project. Guess I'm getting old or something!
Rett
:) :) Yes, you are. lol Me 2.

There was one more move, but I don't remember it, as i was only 1 year old at the time.
Actually, when I was thinking about moving back to Iowa, the house I'm renting, was one I kept wishing I could afford, though at the time, I couldn't....It was being rented out by the time I got back here, but that couple bought a house in town just a block away, back 2016, by that time started collecting Social Security, to go along with pension from Avis. So I was offered the chance to move into after the other couple had moved out.
The owners of the house are former classmates, and they live in the house right next door. He owns an insurance operation here in town, and she is the City Clerk. City engineer is also a former classmate.....
Ah, the joys of small town living...... :) :D ;D
I grew up in Platteville, Wisconsin. At that time, 40's & 50's, the population was around 5000, so I'm familiar with small town living. And I know what you mean.
Rett
:) I agree. There is nothing like a small town. Laundry, bank, drugstore, grocery store, post office, dollar store, barbershop, church, café, gas station ............. all within two blocks. I really miss that about Pelahatchie, but things change, and time moves on.
Yeah John, I know what you are talking about. I moved from the small town of 5000 to Milwaukee, Wi. There were 2600 students in my high school. Quite a culteral shock for sure!!
Rett....
My home town when I was growing up, had a population over 400, but now is well under 300......more like around 250, if that....
No grocery store, NO gas stations - used to be 3 when I was growing up.
Main street businesses today consist of bank, restaurant/bar, insurance office, Post office, Library, car wash in an old gas station, woodworking operation in the old lumber yard.that came close to burning down a couple of months or so ago.
Other business off Main street are cabinet shop, body shop, electrical shop that the owner works out of, does not sell anything out of that locations, just his storage/supply location.
And of course Grain elevator company....
Despite the problems this community has today, it's still not a bad place to live.....nice and quiet as compared to living in SoCal, Orlando and Albuquerque for 42 years......
