Title: Old supermodified
Post by: PNWfrank on March 02, 2019, 02:40:31 PM
Here's my version of the old Lindberg modified kit. It's still a bit of a WIP mostly because I can't make up my mind as to the finished look. The original is sort of out of scale but it can be changed to 1/25 scale without too much effort.

I am enjoying all of these cars, but am particularly interested in the Lindberg car.  I have the double kit, and would like to change up both of them.

Hope to see yours when finished.

You have done justice to these old Lindburg kits.  I have several and this is motivating me to try one.

Liking this one as well....

In looking close at this one, do I see the frame of a GK sprint kit?

Now I wish I had bought more of the re-issued GK kit...... ::) :)

Do you have any info on the process you used to convert it to 1/25th and get it to this point. I would love to build a couple of these....
This looks Great....

Hemiman, the main issues with the original are, the wheelbase is too long it's 4.25 that needs to be about 3.5 for 1/25th scale. The car is also too tall, the body itself with no wheels is about 2.1" tall I cut that down to around 1.75" I also reduced the size of the opening in the nose and reduced the length of the nose by about .2". I used bits of a Grant King frame to move the the front axle back and the rear axle forward to achieve the 3.5" wheelbase. I also filled in the openings on the fuel tank area sides and bottom as well as altering the roof angle a little. Those are the big changes, I'd love to see other people do this just to get their ideas on the project, I have a couple more bodies to modify and I'm always looking for new ways to do it. I'm currently working on the T style modified and will be posting that soon, maybe later today in fact.

PNWF,
That is very good work to make those things look like they should.
I built one "outta the box" and it looks like a 4x4 truck.
Do you have before and after chassis pics?
How did you lower the ride height with the rear end?

I have a couple of these and 4 or 5 Edmunds kits that I want to do like the old OK-TX supers.

Nice save on a real clunker of a kit. Unfortunately if you spend money on a clunker kit, the manufacturer only sees the bottom line. So they keep making clunkers. Buy them at yard sales, or built kits, and force the manufacturers to produce the good stuff.

I would like to see an updated picture of the fuel injected Model A in the background.
If you could post a couple of pictures that would be awesome.

The fuel injected car is a Ford model T coupe.

Not really any progress 0n the 27 T, it's waiting in line for some time spent on it. Here are some shots of it in progress.

Both of those sure look good Frank. That color on the "T" looks like it's a poppy orange. Great looking Super...

The old AMT 25 T kit, I think there was a version of it called the Tall T.
