Couple things still in my collection.

In Scale Auto Magazine a couple years ago, a sealed version of this Ramcharger's Dodge is about $225.00............. Jeez !!!

I don't  know, David.  I think it means he is really old.  His mom and Mrs. Buck Baker were friends.  With respect to both ladies, Hondo is my buddy.

What a great topic. Jim.

I can't even pickup a good parts kit for less than $5.00 but I do remember those prices.  My first kit was an AMT 59 T-Bird kit for $1.39 my my how the times have changed.

I'm not old just a recycled teenager.   I have a bottle of Testors paint with 40 cents on the top with the Walmart price tag of a dime.

I really started building models when AMT came out with the '32 Ford roadster kit, and fell in love with the '40 Fords, both coupes, and sedans. Heck, I have a hard time passing up a '40 kit even today, and if its an old one in black plastic I'm a goner, its like being nine years old all over again. I loved the AMT, and JoHan, annuals. I couldn't wait to see which model the kit producers would make. The ones pictured above not so much.

Before I started building models, I had my brothers' kits to "play with" 1st kit I remember getting, was for my 10th birthday in '63.....The AMT '62 Ford P/U kit. have no idea of the 1st kit I actually bought with own money....but one was, I believe, the 1st reissue of the AMT '32 Ford 5 window coupe....followed by an AMT '40 Ford couple....
Seem to remember paying $2.00 for kits back in the mid to late '60's......

The Ford P/U is LONG gone....but the '32 & '40 Ford builds still survive....the '40, as built, the '32 went through some modifications over time, the last in the mid '70's....

I don't know how many of you remember the code strip on the corner of the Ramcharger kit. The 6025 is the manufacturers designation for that kit, and the 150 is the suggested retail price.

Yep, these days are long gone but I do remember them.  I have to pull them out once in a while just to laugh at the price.  I dont remember how I came to have the Rambler kit but the Impala was purchased at Katz Discount Drug Store in Springfield Mo.  I remember the day as I had enough for TWO kits!!!   Grand times for a kid.

Dang..........
Amazing how simple things were back in those days.
Now if the computerized register doesn't tell the kid how much change to give back, you'll be there a while...........
