I built this 1/18th scale modified several years ago, driven by Pete Swarmer, during the 1965 and 66 racing seasons, in central Pa.
I also built this car in 1/24th scale. I was searching for a 55 Cadillac in 1/24th scale and was unable to locate one.
I found this die cast in the correct color, so here it is in 1/18th scale. The trailer is a 1/24th scale widened to handle the larger model.
Many cars in this time period were brought to the track with unique tow vehicles.

:) Very nice, Bob.
As best I can tell, that trailer is metal. So, how did you widen it ?
Excellent! Cool tow car.....We towed with whatever back in the day!

John,
Too answer your question it is a metal trailer.
I used a hacksaw and cut the tongue off first, then cut all the cross members in the middle. I used brass tubing, just large enough to slide over the cross members. Then I slid a piece of rectangle plastic in the round tube to make it tight. It would have stayed together without any glue, but I put CA glue in each end to secure it in place. I filed a flat spot for the three tongue brackets and glued them with CA glue. Then painted it black.
I live in a very small town but we have a combination grocery, hardware store within five miles. They have a display case, with many sizes of aluminum and brass tubing and also flat sheets.

Man Bob...you did an outstanding job on replicating this era. Plus a great job building the racecar and trailer. Maybe you might build the second one with the wing..eh? LOL... Oh yea...I think the only place we were able to find a 1/25 55-56 Cadillac was at Model Haus....and they are no more. Which is a bummer.....
:) Thanks, Bob. Very innovative. Nice job on all pieces.
WOW, very cool trio, Bob!!! The race car is cool but I'm really diggin' the Caddy!!! gb😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏁
WOW!! Great looking combo!!
Beautiful combo, Bob! The tow car is exceptionally outstanding, very clean and crisp. 8)
Thanks everyone for the nice replies on this combo. The tow vehicle, is just a die-cast I purchased, with no modification.
Bob
