Now that is a serious looking race car. Very nice.
I agree with John. Nice job on the stocker.
Beautiful!!! By the way is that the 64 Ford stocker kit and did you channel the body?
Al
WOW!!
That is one WILD/WICKED looking stocker!!!
Great looking short track car!! The RED sure looks good on it...
Thanks John, Marty, Al, Ed & Gary! And no Al, the body is a 'first release' '64 Ford from the 60s - (see my original post in "Fab shop-under construction pics").
Excellent build Bob, well done. Also another nice set of decals from Greg.
Bob
Real nice. It reminds me a lot of the red 64 Ford that Jim Gerber drove to the Season Championship at Peoria. Well done sir!
Really nice redo on the replica, Bob.
Man, ain't nobody getting past that back "bumper" !
Love it, '64s are one of my favorite short trackers.
Rett
Very cool !!
Those ยด64 Galaxies are great (big, giant) racecars :D :D
Very nice work - I assume that is another replica from the area?
Thanks Bob P, David, Hondo, Rett, Michael and Arca Guy for the nice comments! Its much more difficult to 'try' & restore an older model than start from scratch! And yes Arca Guy it is another replica from the area (see my original post in "Fab shop-under construction pics").
Hondo, those bumpers were required armor in Iowa and Illinois during that time. Many of the cars were so equally competitive that what often made the difference was a nudge or a push; sometimes a shove or a bang; sometimes worse! They also served to make your car seem 12" wide at times when it was necessary.
On a side note, a little later guys started filling in that side triangle; partially for added rigidity but mostly to keep from getting "hooked". Nothing worse than having two guys battling it out and them hooking bumpers and spiraling around taking out a handful of other cars in the process! Kind of comical; trying to unhook themselves would look a lot like a dog shaking water off! It almost always ended badly.
