Title: Florida / Georgia Eddie McDonald
Post by: HAWK22 on April 02, 2025, 12:37:23 PM
Based on the background, photo appears to be the mid 50's.
From Georgia, Eddie McDonald was more or less considered
a local at the Jacksonville Speedway. Always there most Saturday
nights for years.

This color photo of a #90 recreation  with an older Eddie McDonald standing by.

Before my time. Probably a  very stock 34 Ford. Used a  AMT 34 Ford truck frame
and running gear and a flathead Ford engine. Skinny resin tires.

My memories of Eddie McDonald are from the 70's when the track had switched
over to late models. He also ran a few Grand Narional races and the Permatex race
in Daytona...

Really like these older sedans and coupes. Nothing fancy about them, just slap them together and go racing.

Adding those whitewalls is a pain but worth it in the end. Mostly this is an AMT 34 Ford sedan. Even used the original interior but added roll bars & single seat. Testors gold, red and Chrome paint.
High quality no need to use an airbrush anymore.
Mikes decals resin tires and wheels.
Lazer printed decals .
Fun EZ model to build.
Working on another 34 Ford that that I'll post soon.

After seeing your amazing builds and watching MN Max YouTube videos, I think I'll give one of these old school race cars a try once we get moved and I get a bench set up.

At this point in life only enjoy building models of cars I saw or could have seen at the local
track in Jacksonville. This one I don't remember but very familiar with the driver.

appears to be Buick powered. Not one of the better looking cars. Have to do some guess work on the
decals. But still an interesting one to work on.
