Title: Clearcoat over dayglo colours.
Post by: Vdc on June 21, 2025, 02:45:25 AM
As dayglo shades in rattlecans are always matte finish, how will a gloss clear change them.
Are they still bright? Slightly darker?

I've never had much luck clear coating matte paints in general.
The clear always looks separate from the paint, lying over it and not combining with the paint.

I tried some florescent yellow, both (flat) polycarbonate paints (Tamiya and Pactra) on spoons. Coupla coats of paint and coupla coats of clear. Not the desired result but it was ok. They weren't as bright but still usable in my opinion.

Needed to find something to use on some upcoming Blaney builds and MCW doesn't fill rattle cans anymore. They have a neon chartreuse that should be the appropriate color but that doesn't help me if i don't have an airbrush. And they didn't respond to my email but i think i asked them about rattle cans previously and they said they couldn't get the cans anymore or something like that. I have a whole bunch of cans that were bought 5ish years ago from them. Love their spray nozzles.
