ok y'all, here is the moment of truth... site-wide opinions are requested.

on the left is a Lumina which has Tamiya chrome yellow over red oxide primer
on the right is a Monte Carlo which has Tamiya camel yellow over red oxide primer (i think :o  i used red primer under that one)

Monte definitely. It's numbers pick out the red tint of the paint

On other forums I've read that Schoolbus yellow over red was the actual car colour. And Schoolbus is about the same tint as a golden yellow.

How is it spraying yellow over red. A lot of paint must be laid?

Absolutely the Monte Carlo!  I've built some Kodak cars over the years and Kodak yellow needs that hint of red to look right.  My wife's cousin and his wife worked at Kodak for many years and have seen my models, they approved of my color choice.

I usually do 3 coats to get a good shiny finish. I can't speak of how many coats i applied to this one as i had some runs and had to sand, re-prime sections and then paint some more. The hood only has 3 coats on it.

According to MCW's color conversion, Kodak yellow is Wheatland yellow, not Camel yellow. So we have that opinion too. I honestly think the Camel yellow has too much red in it based on the photos i have seen. But you know how pics on the internet are.

So, can those of you who posted but didn't vote, can you vote? I didn't set up the poll for nothing ;)
