This was built back in 05( man...that sounds OLD...Don't it... :o) to replicate an open comp car. The Body is from the AMT 55 Street Machine kit and a southern stocker chassis was used to sit the Body on. Decals were made here in house also. Paint was duplicolor. Here's a few pics for a look....

:) A top notch job. Quite a bit of work there, and unusual colors and arrangement.
Mean looking machine. What do you use to strap the roll bar padding. It's very realistic looking but I can't see it clear enough to figure out what it is...
Rett
Thanks John and Rett.....
Rett...I used small diameter copper wire and then painted it black. I see that some of the color has worn off from lifting the body on and off. But...the body is on there permanently now....
This is REALLY Nice! Love the paint scheme & especially the cut-out windows for a "larger" wheelman!
really slick,love all the detail
Remember this bad boy from back then..................now that you've reposted it again...... ;D
Big block under the hood? (See, don't remember all of it.......LOL)
One mighty fine looking Chevy, back when racing was racing. Really like the colors and the overall build. Thanks for sharing.

Looked good back then and still looks good very nice detail. 55 Chevy racers look good as race cars.
Rich
Thanks Rich. I think ALL tri 5s look cool as short track cars.

That's a great one, Gary.
Very well done detailing.
Can you tell us about the wheels?
Thanks Jim...the wheels on this are ones that I fabbed ( sliced and made wider...made the hubs from evergreen..) using different kit wheels from the parts box.
Beautiful looking chevy
Thanks Charlie. Let's see.... we've got three 55's... Jackie's...Jim's and mine...We need one more 55 to do a Trophy DASH...
Great build Gary!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the compliment Dr. Kerry
I love a 55 chevy race car and this one turned out great.
Amazing detail on the cage - love it all!
Thanks Jackie and Jim for the compliments. This Build was basically the start of the detail thing that I really enjoy doing. If memory serves...I built this back in 05 or 06?
Gary, this is an excellent build, I don't know how I missed this one. Excellent detail inside, under the hood, and great paint and graphics work.
Bob
Thanks for the GREAT compliment Bob.
Very nice looking 55 chevy you have there
I missed a real jewel with this build!!! You've nailed it all, Gary!!! Would be cool to bring back cars like this to replace the hideous looking late models of the past 20 years or so. Someone could make a killing making body panels to replicate these era cars. Nice build, sir!!!😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏁
I remember this puppy I love it you did an amazing job on this one!!!!....... 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Yes sir, that is one awesome and scary looking ride, Norman. Beautiful! 8)
