At the rate this forum is going we are going to need about 400 members to make this thing look like something besides a grave yard. Come on somebody must be building something. If not, lie to me. Tell me your plans ( even if you most likely will never get it built. What's new? Justsayin'.

Ya know Older, I just watched another circle track forum dry up and blow away, not to mention a couple of others. I don't know what happened to all the roundy pounder builders I used to see but it is bad all over. Is everyone that taken in with Facebook? If communicating with other modelers is going to require that, I guess I will once again be a closet modeler. I REFUSE to go there.
I have projects going right now but they are some period hot rod projects. I mostly do Circle stuff but change from time to time or I get kinda stale. I also spend a little time beating myself up on the go kart, when it's not raining. I might be an old geezer and really should stay at my work bench and have lunch at the Senior Center but a 7K rpm engine behind my ear and doing some of that Steve Kinser stuff in the dirt makes my day. That is, until I hook a rut and get all up-ended and all. I still have a normal neck and limbs so the 5 point belt system and roll cage is doing its job. It does make getting out of bed a little tough the next day if it's a rough tumble. It is those times when you see sky-ground-sky-ground and that terrible silence in between landings that gets to me most. Crazy? Nope, I just never grew up and until there is a law that says I have too I aint gonna.
Well, fellas, just checking in to see what's new...I've not been to the bench in a couple of weeks. The wife and I have just not been feeling quite right lately. Could be the winter getting long in the tooth I suppose. Mostly I've just been forgetting the forum is here but I been forgetting a lot of things. Don't know about others but that's my excuse, as lame as it is. gb
I was just trucking alone on my Jimmy Lord '57 Ford. First thing, I had it really poppin' then screwed up the paint. Sooooo, into the purple pond it went. ThenI had to go to Tennessee for a funeral service for a long time (48 yrs) friend. Now I'm back, catching up on things around here. Looks like maybe primer tomorrow or Sunday. Then we'll see what happens! I want to contribute to keep things going to repay those who fought so hard to get thing going!!!

wish I had an answer as to why I cannot move the 2 feet from where I'm sitting at the computer to my new work table.... :-[
need to stop buying/collecting kits and get to working on the....have all these ideas in my head when I chase some down, but cannot get to actually building :(

:( :( ??? ??? ::) ::) :-[ :-[ :-[ :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
:) You want it straight, don't you ? Here it is. I have met a girl, and suddenly model cars don't seem to be nearly as important to me as they used to be.
After being divorced 32 years, it is nice to have someone care where I am, and what I am doing. And, by the way, she wants to build a model, and not a snap kit, either. Best of both worlds, I believe.

I like that John.I am happy for you!
John that's a lot more interesting than hearing who died, and who's lumbago is acting up. You need to keep us informed on the progress of her build.

I wish I could could build some thing. But with the shoulder and hand problem after the surgery. It's making things tough to work on a model.

Looks like John is having a lot more fun than some of us! Way to go John. So very glad to know you are happy and have found someone to enjoy your life with you.

John2.....You are very lucky to find a girl who is interested in building model cars. That is soooo neat!!!
I work in an unheated garage so that tells you a bunch. Still learning how to post pictures so I'm stuck there until my son decides to give me another lesson. Right now I'm working on building one of those Falcons that everyone hates. Its a rebuild of one I did early on. This time with a 55 chevy frame. I'm using some of the roll cage and the body, that's about it. I haven't cracked open a new kit in quite a while just re building old kits that I never liked.

Sometimes that is more fun than starting with a new kit. I had bought about 20-25 kits a couple of years ago, mostly for the parts. Ended up there were several that just need a little TLC. so I salvaged them enough to put up with my finished ones. Really enjoyed it. So, build on man, looking forward to seeing your work on this one!

:) Hang in there, Bandit. It will work out.
Thanks to you guys. Her building a model is on the growing list of things for us to do together, so it might be a while. She built one as a child. We will pick up a kit for her, our first trip to Hobby Lobby, so I will let you know how it turns out.

That is great news, John! Very happy for you both. ;D
I have not had the spark to build for a while now. It happens. I still go on here and Randy's to look at builds as well as eBay to see what's cookin' there. I bid on, but lost, an MPC Rough Rider Pinto kit a few weeks ago. I go down to the basement once or twice a week and look at the stash, but nothing seems to fire me up. I'm sure it will pass with time as I've had these spells before.
Well...
The garden season has started here, so modelbuilding is now the second hobby after gardening, RV driving, motorcycle driving, spending (too much) time on the computer, make my lady happy :-* :-*...
Uups, i think i must improve my counting skills ;D ;D
Don´t build much, but i´m every day here !!
On the bench: 1/ 16 ´57 Chevy asphalt modified, Pinto modified, Tiny Lund´s 69 #55 Pepsi Nascar Camaro and much more...
Received my order from Ron Coon a few weeks back. Two Camaro bodies and a lot of other racer´s hardware.
Good to hear a lady wants to build models! This forum will survive, i´m pretty sure!!
Hey folks,
Just popped on here for the 1st time in a while to see what was happening.
Yes, I am as guilty as anyone for not "being a modeler" lately.
I have many other things that require my time and sadly, building small scale race cars has slid way down the priority list.
Also, several weeks back, our computer died and I lost everything including ALL my modeling info/racing pics/etc.
(The hard drive is being researched to see if anything could be retrieved)
I did go to Nashville yesterday and actually picked up a kit at HL while there.
I am committed to a friend in Carolina to build a KC-135A tanker like he flew in the USAF. I have to finish that first.
Speaking of racing........
I was working in Orlando in February and was able to see the late models and the Ritchie Evans Memorial modified race at New Smyra Speedway.
Last night I was at the Fairgrounds in Nashville for the 100 lap CRA Super Late Model race & the 200 lap ARCA race.
It was windy, high 20s with snow flurries in the afternoon, didn't warm up at night either. BUT, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the young kids race.
I'd rather drive the 400 mile round trip to Nashville than watch free "Cup" racing on TV.
The recent builds are awesome and I appreciate seeing what's been built. Welcome to all the new members too.
Hopefully, I can get "back to it" before long.
Oh...... John2, your post about the new lady friend is not as valuable as it would be if it included photos...... HA !!! ;D
Rock on !!
Hey John2, that happened to me. It was just Wonderful!!!..............................Then I lost a business, house, three cars and 175K. Now I wish the best of luck to you and your new mate and I am sure the little gal is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm just saying keep an eye on your buttered toast.
:) Well, ( well, what J2 ? ) thanks, for the comments, everyone. Not sure about pictures, Hondo, since do not know how to post anymore, or if this residents' computer will allow it. But we are having fun together.
Oh, and, I have started one of the Tobias ' 40 Ford coupe modified kits. I'll still be around here, giving you guys hard time, if nothing else. And still planning to be at the Memphis show in June.
And, as with Hondo, with Anne, and the loss of Matt Kenseth, not too interested in NASCAR anymore.

:) Well, ( well, what J2 ? )
I feel I've been cheated on!
:) Do what ?
John,
You have a PM.
Bob
:) Got it, Bob. Thanks.
I am building. Slowly. I have a 64 Ford Fairlane replica of the family race car from 1970 that is coming together. It is painted and decaled and if I push I might get it done this weekend.
I didn't get my last build posted here. I don't have a hosting site anymore. I need to figure something out about that.
I just finished up a bunch of old CASCAR and local late model decal sheets for my own building projects. For some reason it is easier to get those done than models.
I also took a break from short trackers to build some current Gen 6 cars from the snapkits. Nothing this crew would be interested in.
Rod, if you get to posting pics, I'm always interested in Gen6 type subjects. Feel free to post them in non short track.
Tom
I haven't been around here much lately due to work load, but I did make it to our local show last weekend and another last month. I bought a few kits for future projects. I have been building a little. I have a few started and a grant king sprint car getting close to being done that I was trying to finish for our local show that didn't happen. I will try to get some pics posted in the next few days. I did pick up a second place at our show with a 35 chevy sedan tobias car I took. Glad to see everyone is well, and congrats John on your new friendship.
:) Thank you.
