starting 3 wide on a 1/3(?) dirt track for 50 laps in 25 lap segments on a dry slick track.....
that was how the modifieds started last night (Fri) at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt, IA last night for their Night of 10,000 Stars race.
And no, it was not a crash fest.....very few caution flags.....at the half way point, there were still 28 cars running....though a few more dropped out during the 2nd half.....
Ricky Thornton, Jr. dominated the event. pretty much leading all the laps as he started on the front row.....
There will start being a lot of big names around with the Boone Super Nationals coming up. Jason "Big Show" Wolla from N.D. was at tiny Vinton Speedway last Sunday, but we got rained out halfway through.
tb
....I was going to say that race that Ed was talking about sounds a whole lot like the "A" features I saw at the I.M.C.A Super Nationals in Boone.....
Hey, Tom...how's 23T doing this year??? Kathy and I both got off of Fbook a couple of months ago and not missing it much.🤓
Kyle and Tony were both rolled at Marshalltown 2 weeks ago. Kyle's building a new car for Boone Supernationals. Tony fixed his. But watched at Vinton last not and its clearly got some handling issues. I think hes won 8 or 10 races including a big payout up at Britt earlier this summer.

Other drivers that were at Britt this past weekend
Kyle Strickler, Mooresville NC (qualified for the NASCAR truck race at Eldora a few weeks ago)
D.J Shannon, Merced, CA
Ethan Dotson, Bakersfield, CA
Tim Ward, Tucson(?) AZ, but calls Harcourt, IA home during racing season in the upper Midwest
D.J. Shannon won the main event at Algona this past Thurs night, but did not fare well at Britt
This was a first for the Algona track to go up against the larger event at Britt just 25 miles or so East, but the car counts were higher than I thought there would be, makes me wonder if some of the teams wanted to run a regular show at Algona, though the purses were larger than usual as well.
Oh, Friday night at Britt, just a 120+ cars for 4 divisions, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, 50+ were modifieds......
So yeah, I guess you could say I enjoyed the races both nights......
Ya' think? (Yeah watching NCIS has been rubbing off on me though on DVDs.....)
Thanks for the info guys. Looks like Iowa is still a great place to race!!! I hope both guys were okay and get back to their winning ways soon. Ed, you've got some great racing going on up there. I wish I was able to get out to the races but not this year, especially after a hard spill on my driveway a couple of weeks ago. Still hurting from that one.😖🏥 I love your facebook response, David. I didn't realize how much time can be WASTED on that site. It's kind of freeing to cut that cord. Y'all have a great evening. Now...if I can just get down to the basement to my hobby room without taking another dive, I'm gonna go cut and glue some plastic.😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏁
....No need to subscribe to Hawkeye Racing News ....I get all the news right here ;D
