I have gotten into another 40-something fat fender. Any guesses as to what it will be?

Looks like a forty something Chevy. Maybe a ‘47?

I see you get burned out like me and jump around some. Be careful there buckaroo, you'll end up with toys and parts piled up around yer ears and ask yourself, WTH have I done? You know you gone too far when you have FOUR different work benches. If I clean out my workroom, I think an excavator would be in order, the average backhoe would take too long.

I have this one in the stash, waiting its turn to be built or sold at my estate sale whichever comes first. Your attention to detail just floors me. Can you pass along some hints on how you painted those hubcaps? That is why I build mostly with mags or steelies, they are less intimidating.

David, thanks for that explanation. I do have a OOO brush and an opti-vision magnifier. My biggest issue is going to be able to hold my hand steady enough to get into those small areas without slathering paint all over the rest of the piece. :-\

Instead of paint and thinner I use India ink and water for the Black wash....a couple of drops with the dropper that comes with a bottle mixed with enough water to fill an old Testors small glass paint bottle is what I use.....apply it with the brush of your choice and simply use a paper towel to remove any excess.....pretty simple and it looks great. One bottle of India Ink should last you for many years.
One drop of ink yields a less subtle detail effect...3 or more, just the opposite to the point you might as well paint it a shade of Black. I have started using the Blackwash technique on intake manifolds ,carbs and some valve covers.

I will agree that the ink wash method on PAINTED surfaces looks good and works well. However on Chrome surfaces like Davids poverty caps and valve cover, that stuff will let go and come out in a few years. I have tried it with water and alcohol and I ended up with the same result. You can trust Davids paint and thinner method to last the long haul on chrome parts and never again worry. Been there, done that and wore the t-shirt out.

Good job David! Durn good job! Your color choice makes this thing pop. I think the only colors I ever saw of the real thing were grey and black. Again, very nice work on this, it has the "Bogard Touch" and you did this kit justice. It is nice to change from racers once in a while, they can burn you out---I know. I'm still waiting to see you knock that Palmer kit out of the park.................I know you could.
