Title: Paint booth

Now that you know where to get them, here’s a couple of pictures on how my paint booth is set up.  My booth sits on top of a short book shelf and plugs into a standard 120 volt outlet nearby.  I replaced the glass in my basement window with a piece of painted Masonite and vented through a standard dryer vent and duct purchased at Walmart.  I’ve been using this particular setup for about six years now.  Previously it was vented through a thick craft board, also from Walmart, that was inserted as needed in my sliding window in the dining room.  That was not very convenient since my hobby room is in the basement.  The current setup, while needing more lighting, is pretty durn good and I really like it!!!  Ask and you shall receive!!!

Greg, that is a cool set up.  May I ask what type fan you use and where you got it.  I am trying to use a vacuum cleaner motor, but it is very noisy and has too strong of an exhaust.

Sorry I missed this post Rick...it’s a Dayton motor/blower that came with the paint booth.  The blower that comes with the unit is Pace Paint Booths mfg. model # MG0822032171010 which is Dayton #1TDP7 which is very expensive through WW Grainger.  Here is a link to a more affordable blower.  Unfortunately it doesn’t come with the dryer vent adapter.

Thanks for the link.  I may have to get off some of my rusty money and splurge on one of those and quit trying to backyard engineer a vacuum motor to work.

Do a search for square to round vent adaptor (https://www.google.com/search?biw=1176&bih=561&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=EIwXXui-PNfatQaE-5aoDQ&q=square+to+round+vent+adaptor&oq=square+to+round+vent+adaptor&gs_l=img.3...10656.24061..26524...0.0..0.76.502.8......0....1j2..gws-wiz-img.VL7-w3-uUlE&ved=0ahUKEwjohvnnrPfmAhVXbc0KHYS9BdUQ4dUDCAc&uact=5)   The size needed is commonly used with restroom/bathroom ventilation units.

Here’s another alternative paint booth for those who love projects.  Looks like a great booth.  Just another option...🏁

I like the diy version!! I have a booth stored in my in laws pole barn. I don’t have room here at home for it. I usually step out in the front or back yard and spray my stuff. Inside at work during the winter months!

My paint booth is a repurposed metal cabinet that came with a big commercial copier. It has a single door that will fold all the way back against the side of the cabinet. The only shelf in it wasn’t permanently attached, so I removed it. I cut a hole in the top to accommodate a furnace filter, and reworked the old shelf into a slip in holder for the filter. Currently the exhaust fan is an old 12volt bilge fan from a friend fishing boat, plumbed into an old shop vac hose.
