Title: Wrecker for the gas station/repair shop
Post by: Hondo on February 07, 2021, 03:47:07 PM
Trying to finish all my "started" projects. Revell '77 GMC Wrecker.
Added a few things to make it look more realistic.
I guess since the "ESSO" changed to EXXON in '72, it has that flaw.

Excellent and very believable! A really clean shop too!And on the other part, Standard Oil did not rename itself until 1973 and then began to make those brand name changes across the States so your truck still works for me! Little trivia, the name "Esso" came from the phonetic pronunciation of the actual parent Company name, Standard Oil; "S"and"O".

Works for me too.  I think it's great.  Love the chains.

GREAT looking tow truck!!

Have one of the releases of this kit, decals for this one does not have the Esso decal, just 24/7 Towing...

Kinda' reminds me of the time i hung out with a guy who started out owning 2 gas stations right across the street from in other in Norwalk, CA (around 15 miles or so SE of downtown LA). This was after work. Especially in the late '70's when I was off work early enough to stop by the shops. I rode with the owner on number of trips mostly around the LA/Orange county area. Did make to long out of town trips with him as well. Even called in sick on one of those out of town trips......Ah, those were the days.....

Hey guys.

Sorry, I couldn't make the photos a little larger.

David, I remember going to the "Esso" Standard Oil building in Chicago.
Interesting fact about the name.

Ed, it's a combination of decals I had.

The "carrier" wheels are some aircraft tail wheels I found at the local hobby shop.

Thanks for the kind remarks !

Hondo, I need those carrier wheels! I have a boat trailer that is "on-hold" because it had tandem small wheels like that on it and finding them has been a "no-go". Your aircraft tire deal might just send me down the right road!
