Nice little video. And a great amount of history that was set there. Stuart Hillborn built the first hot rod that exceeded 150 mph, at an SCTA sanctioned meet....in 1948! Hillborn  created his constant flow fuel injection system from scratch. Nobody thought it would work. Yet it topped what any other car had done to that point in time. It also was on engines that won over 30 times at Indy, quite an accomplishment for a back yard engineer.

Major advances in safety for American cars and trucks came from the engineering work those young guys did. Disc brakes were on those race cars long before they were on standard American passenger cars and that is just one thing of many that the hot rodders brought us. As a kid of the 50's and 60's I was hooked on that stuff and got buying hot rod magazines when I was 14.  Those were great times.
