Just finished this one yesterday. Built mostly box stock other than tires and replaced the kit injector stacks with aftermarkets. Front tires are 3d printed and the rear are ron coon resin tires.

"Said I would buy no more kits  ---  but,  .....you know." Unfortunately, John, you are like the rest of us - addicted to polystyrene. Would like to see some pictures of those two builds.

:) Just checking with you people.  Seeing what's going on.  Hope everyone is well.

Lots of short track models on Facebook, but not much discussion as on here.  Not the fellowship.   Most are good, and some not so much.

I have done 2 models.  A '34 5 window coupe jalopy.  And  I took the body off a '65 Mustang modified, and made a slab side super modified.  And then scratched out a wing for it.  Enjoyed doing both of those.

Said I would buy no more kits  ---  but,  .....you know.

Have a good day, John

Finished my buddy build 65 Galaxie with Volzfan59, then complete the 65 GTO, both from the AMT modified stocker series. Now we're working on the AMT Groove Boss supermodified as a buddy build. Time has not been kind to this kit, but we are working our way through it. If anyone has the AMT #6511 Grant King sprint car it, with the "wedge version" option, the instructions for that kit will make building the Groove Boss kit much easier, just saying!

Just when I had figured out how to post pictures, things changed. I completed my #14 Tennessee Volunteer BGN Monte Carlo driven by Sterling Marlin. Tried to post pictures but they were to big. Have to thank my friend "Speedracer" for sending me a replacement hood. The original crazed over badly while painting. Hopefully I can save it.  Now he and I are doing another buddy build. This time utilizing the AMT Groove Boss super modified.

....did some quick math :o
Using a recent AMT truck kit purchase against what is shown in the advertisement, there has been a just shy of 3000% ...thats THREE THOUSAND percent increase in kit prices.  As an example an AMT truck kit being priced around $70.00 in 2024 verses costing 2 or 3 dollars in the early '70's
Judging by the cars shown, I would place that add around 1970-1971

Ha, I remember buying a few models at Woolworth's. Those were the days.

That ad popped up on Pinterest and thought everyone would enjoy it. Speedracer and I talked about Woolworth's model kit sales and couple of days ago. I would go to the Woolworth's store in Oak Ridge, TN in the early to mid 70's to buy models. When they put them on sale it was like the heavens opened and angels would sing! Great memories
