I think it looks like a '50 Olds Rocket 88. The modified is a Wendell Scott '37 Ford coupe. Sorry for the bad photo. I haven't had much luck finding info on this car, and I have looked all over the place.

I don't know Marty. Could it be a Ford?
I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

That was my first thought, David, but then I noticed that it appears to have many vertical indentations in the valve covers. The Rocket V8 is the only engine that I am aware of that has a dozen indentations like that. But I am not sure.

Since Windell ran mostly around Va. and Carolina and most tracks were NASCAR tracks and the rules at that time required a Ford in a Ford and a Chevy in a Chevy its a Ford type engine. 312ci Fords came from the factory with 3 deuces and had that type of valve cover but most likely its a 430 ci Lincoln. I know my dad ran one around 1960.

I think its a MEL (Mercury,Edsel, Lincoln) engine from the late fifty's, once again due to the ribbed valve covers.

Thanks, Bandit. I think I might still have that Lincoln engine.

Thanks, David. That does make more sense than using an Olds engine.

At least the Lincoln engines also had ribbed valve covers. I'm not sure about the Merc's, or the Edsel's.
