Oldsmobile Aerotech Driven By AJ Foyt

Recently I got a call from Tim Cindric, current President of Penske racing. He heard from a mutual friend that I built models and he had a request. In the late 80's, Oldsmobile built a car, the Oldsmobile Aerotech for AJ Foyt to drive. The sole purpose was to design a vehicle to exceed a closed coarse world record, for the flying mile, currently just over 250mph.....with a 4 cylinder engine, The Quad 4. Sam Posey narrates a 21 minute documentary you can see on YouTube about the project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlR2P7oY68o&t=1026s In the end they were successful, using a March Indy Car chassis and designing a aero body to run speeds of over 270pmh. It's an interesting story.

Tim's father did a considerable amount of the development work on the Quad 4 in his engine shop and Tim, a teenager at the time, was able to work on the project. Tim had purchased a Monogram model kit of the Aerotech many years ago, and wanted someone to build it so AJ could sign it for his collection. I have attached a few photos of the basically box stock build. It was fun to do some research and build the kit for a senior member of Penske Racing. At this post Tim has not yet seen or received the finished build.......I hope he will be pleased. Thanks for looking

Very nice build and congratulations on being selected for such an opportunity.  Maybe you should build another and see if you can get "The Captain" to sign it.
