Am I the only who has seen model cars back in the day (late '50's into early '60's) that builders used sewing needles for the antennas?

The 1 or 2 builds I remember were most likely built by my oldest brother, as he had built a few back them. His were place on top of the rear fenders and angled back somewhere between 90 & 45 degrees. I know when I saw them and tried to pick them up, if I wasn't careful, would end up sticking myself.

On a MPC Jeep that I bought around 1968-69(?) I installed one on the cowl. (These was the Jeep kit that had an option to build a swamp buggy version, that I've never seen since then, they are mostly reissued as the Hogan's Hero's Jeep......
And no, this build did not survive one of my early purges....  :(

I have a brother that has more guitars than most people have clean shirts. He restrings them regularly, and I get the old strings. Talk about good material for antennas. Whip antennas for CB radios, and police, and fire, vehicles come out looking good, and in scale for a change. I even made a set of curb feelers and frenched antennas for a lowered Hudson Hornet convertible, with two tone paint, and even baby booties hanging from the rear view mirror. I use the little shirt pins for column shift levers, and file the top flat, to make the knob part of a broadly knob.
