Not sure if this is where I should post this or not but I got a new book today through Amazon called Stock Car Racing in the '50s by Ford Easton.  This book is a great pictorial of the cars that raced in the 50s.  The photos and articles are from the East Coast of Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.  The book has 225 pages of old stock cars/jalopies pics from days gone by.  The pics are all in black and white and no color pics.  There are not a lot of engine shots but most of the engines that are visible are of the flathead variety although on a few of the later 50's cars you can see the SBC headers peaking through.  This book will prove to be of great value when it comes time to hack up a kit for a stock car/jalopy project.  While I'm on the subject of books, several years ago on the other site one of you guys mentioned a book by Fr. Dale Grubba called MSC modifieds but the only books I could find by him are The Golden Age of Wisconsin Auto Racing and Alan Kulwicki NASCAR Champion:  Against All Odds.  I was looking for more of a pictorial of the Wisconsin area mods and late models from the 60's.  Any help is always welcome.  Hope this helps you guys.  P.S. the cost with shipping was $22.00. Until next time happy gluing.
