I only ran this sportsman car once and managed a win. It was probably one of the worst cars I ever drove. I bought it, raced it, won with it, sold it! I didn't want to fight all the problem!!

Very nice replica build. I'm sure it means more, being one of your own cars.

That's the sign of a good driver; ones that can win without necessarily the best car. The fact that you built a tribute to one of the cars you drove is terrific! Super job!!

I considered myself a "good" driver, not great, because I never won a championship. But I always gave those a hell of a good run for their money! The one thing I can say is, I never cheated, and always ran flat out. I knew guys who let up in qualifying so they'd start closer to the front. Not me. But then, maybe that's why I wasn't a champion! lol It was a lot of fun and I'm still friends with a bunch of those guys I raced with and that's what is important to me!

In our sportsman division, we got one lap to qualify and that was it! All races, heat, semi, and feature we all inverted fast man last. 18 car feature, 22 car semi, sort of separated the men from the boys. Fact is there were a few clean sweeps over the year. Probably mostly by 7 time champ Frank Smith. I came close a couple of times......Still a heck of a lot of fun!!! BTW, I can certainly understand the pill method!

Undefeated.  Nice Rett.

Yup, John, I won every race I was in in 1975.

Nice job on the replica. Both the real car and model look so long and sleek.

Thanks again guys. Really, the car was a piece of junk and the model not much better. No detail, just a scratched interior. Mostly, I had the kit, wanted another of my cars on the shelf.....Appreciate all the response, moving on now... Got a '34 PU to build...

I like seeing these local racer models. Especially when there is a familiar face and a good story attached to it. Thanks for sharing, Rett!
