This is a 1/18th scale replica of the Camel Express number 26, driven by Jim Nace and wrenched by Jim Russell.

Almost box stock build.
I added the wing braces, front torsion tubes and torsion arms.

Another fantastic set of]DECALS by Greg Holland.
Front torsion arms and right rear wheel cover 3-D printed by Greg Holland.

I bought five of these kits years ago. They are nice kits and are no longer available. I still have one left.

GREAT looking build!!!!

Had a couple of GMP 1/18 metal sprint car kits back in the '90's......one was a modern type with 2 side frames. wing or non wing piarts.
The other was a late '60's (?) style that IIRC had an Offy or Chevy engine options, as well as a spring front or torsion bar.....
Never built them....sold them somewhere around 2006/2007.....either thru Fred's site or Randy's site.....

Ed,

The one I built was the newer kit containing two frames and five different hoods.

The old one you were talking about was a replica of a Floyd Trevis sprint car. I wish I had some of those kits.

Great build, Bob.
Never saw this race car before.

You're gonna need a bigger shelf !

That is super cool. 1/18 really gets ya some super detail and this one looks like it's got it all. Very nice job!

Thanks for the comments guys.

I built this one for my Son in law, He worked for Camel express for many years and was a big Jim Nace fan.

Man Bob...that looks GREAT! What a cool paint scheme. Does the R&R kit go together as good as the GMP kits?

Gary,

these kits go together very well. They are a very nice kit.
I bought four of these years ago. They were a blank kit. The kits been out of stock for quite a while. Maybe you could find them on ebay.
I paid $55 each for them.

Thanks for the reply and info Bob. I have a few of the GMP kits. The older cars plus a few of the 2nd Gen cars( like the one you built here). I'll keep my good eye open for one of the R&R kits..
