ONE Ongoing Project
« on: August 12, 2019, 05:23:39 PM »
Well, here is just one of many projects I hope to accomplish in the (near?) future.  I always have "big" ideas surrounding models I wish to complete.....the visions in my head always seem to surpass the final result however.  This is a '64 Ford I built in the 1960s (way before Evergreen styrene & computer-generated decals), driven in NE Iowa by Chub Liebe of Oelwein IA.  Chub raced for his Dad, Lawrence, who owned Iowa Motor Company in Oelwein. My hopes are to restore this model to a little closer to the 1:1 car.  This car won the 1965 Season Championship race at Tunis Speedway in Waterloo & again in 1969 sans roof.  Amazing considering today's late models are outdated almost year-to-year.

You've had great modeling skills for a long time Bob!! I like the "old" version a lot!
I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

I love it.  But I will never get used to those " old iron rail beadsteads " on so many of those midwest cars.  Musta been some " bang 'um racing " there.  lol

Looking forward, Bob, to the finished product.

Well, its been several months since I've done anything (gone to Arizona for a couple), so the one-plus side to the COVID-19 is that I've been able to get more bench time on this long-term rebuild. I'm finding out that 'rehabilitating' a 50-some year old model can sometimes be more work than starting from scratch on a brand new project. This one is going to be FAR from perfect...still sticking with the old metal axle through the oil pan setup -just trying to freshen up the 'ol girl that I slapped together as a teenager.

Oh yeah, bring it on.  Really like the looks of this big Ford with no fenders.  Keep those updates coming.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

Just waiting on decals and a few other odds & ends to finish the "restore".....hopefully to resemble the 1:1 car a tad better.
