Resin 32 Ford 3 Window Coupe Chopped Top
« on: August 02, 2021, 10:18:46 PM »
Anybody know of a resin caster that has a 32 Ford 3 window coupe with a chopped top.  I plan to build a model of my real one,  That's right guys, I finally reached a dream of having a hot rod in my garage and now it's there.  Maine Boy  and I talked the other day about hot rods and racers.  Thanks for any input fellas.

I look at old pics from short track racing in the 1960's (our era) and see lots of steel bodies that were turned into jalopies and early mods and wonder just what that steel would be worth today. I have loved 32 coupes since my teen years and built several from the old AMT kits. I liked the 5 window best but the 3's look real nice too. A thing to remember is that they were only built that one year. It is a wonder any steel ones survived at all, especially considering the scrap drive during WWII.

Fordguy do you know who made the glass body for yours?   Lots of companies making them now since steel is almost non existent. I wonder sometimes if after our generation is gone will anyone still want these old 30 style hotrods. I just can bring myself to like those 21 inch wheels and baby tires they put on cars today. When I see someone put them on a 56 Chevy it makes me want to throw up almost. Just don't belong on a hot rod type of car in my book.

I know I'm late getting back to you guys.  David I ordered the Jimmy Flintstone body but the top has too radical a chop on it so I'm still looking.  I'm going to contact Replicas and Miniatures to see if Norm has any of his left over.  I know he doesn't cast bodies anymore but I'll check anyhow.  I texted a pic of the car to my brother and he said he always wanted to build one like that since high school but he said he doesn't think he will get it in.  He turns 80 next April.  You're right MB I think the venerable 32 Fords in any style, coupe's, sedan, Vicky, roadster any of them are of the most beautiful out there.  BTW guys, I'm getting lots of looks and compliments on the car and I plan to display it Sept 17th for our local Cruisin Main here in Plattsmouth Ne.  I can hardly wait.  Enjoy the holiday and stay safe.

There are 2 Revell 32 Ford 3 window model kits for sale on Ebay tonight, here is one of them.

This one does not have the top chopped but it would not be too hard on this car. Cut equal out of all 4 corners. The front and rear areas are slanted, unlike the model A, so would have to make the roof a bit longer, not too hard with a little patience. These 1:1 autos were beautiful cars. There was a sense of styling that never seemed to appear in anything by Henry Ford before. This car was only built that one year. Same for the frame. The 32 Frame is unique with a "beauty mark" in it just under the cowling. I envy your ownership. Be sure and enjoy the living daylights out of it.
