Great choice of motors, I always like the unusual. The 300 cu in Ford 6 was a great truck motor. They also made them as a 240 which was just a destroked 300. They made them for decades and were used in ag equipment a lot also. Great torque at low RPM. I had one in a 1970 F250 pickup. Was a pretty good engine for the time, some of them went 300,000 miles without a rebuild, fantastic for that era. My only issue was a real main seal problem that was fairly easily fixed.
These motors were used in Maine in 6 cyl modified classes for a long time. Their major competition was the 292 GM six engine. I think quite a lot of work has been done with airflow in the cylinder heads on both engines to get more power. The 6 cyl mod races I saw were very competetive. The sound is quite different from V8 classes but the cars always seem to be able to go real good.
