#94 Sunoco

Hi to all.

Here is my just finished Sterling Marlin Oldsmobile from 1990.







Again, some bodyshell mods. 0.75mm card on top of doors and sills have been pulled out slightly. Can't really see the difference, but body just drops over side cages. No snagging.





Paint is Lifestyle Blue from Vauxhall/Opel. A GM brand too.

Tempting to say this actual paint was used for Sunoco, but Lifestyle Blue only start in early 00's




And like my Coors, TS smoke over the wheels.

And great to have this AMT box art version. A car I've always wanted to build.





The B & C pillars, I was unsure if to paint them black, then I found this pic. Both pillars are blue.


It is a different car and driver, but I'll take it. I remember on Randy's site the info of these pillars,them being a lot of times like this.

It's great to finally have an Olds.This bodyshape did have some great looking schemes.
 
And i was able to finish off the Sunoco blue rattlecan (as with my previous red car) before the paint was unusable.

The stance I do spend some time on. All axle stubs are removed and wheel backs levelled off. Then wheels are glued on, 1 per day.
Wheels are set to sit good in each wheel arch only rather than measure scale correct track width. Am sure each wheel would measure different from chassis centreline.

Yes, gluing the wheels on is the only way to get proper stance. These models don't need to be able to roll down the driveway.

Those Sunoco cars were really slick looking. Being a Ford guy i built a Tbird (the one that Labonte experimented with/ran like twice on speedways). Love it even if it is obscure.

I don't think i have the patience to do what you do with the wheels. My Harvick build gave me fits after i cut the stubs off. Never again...

My normal method of getting good wheel tuck is to cut the stubs down but not off and waller out the wheel back holes to they tuck under the fenders just a bit more.

I recall your Sunoco T-Bird on Randy's. A car I'd like to build soon, have a spare front stripe too to fill gaps.

Thank you. It's definitely my favourite build right now. The livery on that bodyshape, just looks spot on.

And the Powerslide sheet is something else. Sumptuous is a good description, with logos also for the T-Bird & Lumina versions.
