Wes's Model Car Corner has announced the release of an injection molded modern dirt late model kit. According to Wes, all white styrene, about 100 parts. He recieved feedback that the modified were a little intimidating for some builders, so they worked to lower the parts count. Molds are currently being cut. Everything from design, molds, molding and packaging being done in the US.
They're taking pre orders for a 4th quarter release. Good news!!
That's AWESOME. Wonder how many drivers they are going to produce? Showing 2 on the website. I bet this is gonna take off once released. Hope they make decals for some of my Illinois boys.
I'd be in for a Bobby Pierce car!
Pierce, Hoffman, Shirley, Sheppard, Unzicker.
i ordered one of each posted for pre-order, i couldn't help myself ;)
I can hardly wait for them to be released
:) I don't want any. lol I am too old. lol
I'm in for one, maybe two. Like most every kit I build, they will probably be a phantom build. With this great news, I really hope that Wes comes out with an asphalt late model kit.

I think mine will be fantasy builds too. At least the first one. Mostly (nah, totally) because i have no idea who the drivers are. I hope that the kits will come out with national level drivers from WoO and Lucas. Or at least someone jumps on it and prints decals.

I couldn't help myself either. Got one of each. Told my buddy "Speedracer", "I'm kinda geeked up!
Long ago I've built 1 or 2 of this type racer that were very challenging due to primitive and/or poor quality casting. When I see newer well done ones available I'm torn as I already went through so much work before to finish one but think I might deserve to enjoy building another that's presented well to the builder.
Digging this one up to see if anyone has any accurate information as to when these may be released. Me and Steve are chomping at the bit to get these... so much for the 4th quarter 2025... last month Steve said that someone on here mentioned this month.
Anyone? Bueller... Bueller...
Last I heard was a February 2026 push back of the release date. If he's going to deliver them by the end of this month he'd better "be about business". I know that Wes is holding $119.00 of my money. That's something that I don't take lightly.
Steve
Does anyone know if these are being produced for him by Salvino's? I assume they are, as he says "Made in the USA". I am tempted but fear lots of building difficulties, like every other Salvino's kit I've tried.

I agree.

You got hosed. Mine were only $110 ;D
I sent them an email about an expected release date and also whether Salvinos is involved.
Will report back when i hear something

My bad, checked my receipt, I'll rephrase. 😂
Wes is holding $110.33 of my money. Something I don't take lightly.
Ok, here it is, straight from Wes' mouth... well, fingertips
No Salvinos isn't involved in this. We should receive the molds soon. We are behind our projection release date due to the first mold company not meeting any of our deadlines. The second company here in the US has done great in getting us caught up. I have posted the pictures of the molds on our behind the scenes Facebook group. We are planing on being in production next month. The boxes are already at Legacy Custom Plastic plant.
Thank you again for your patience and interest in our products.
Regards,
Wes

Thank you Dave.
Yes, thanks, that's great info. Hope all involved can meet their deadlines.
this is why threads like this one are important. looking through the website, there's a lot of nice kits and some have very attractive pricing.
but low prices are "just the beginning" as has been touted by another company. if service is lacking, there's no value to be gained.
"knows the cost of everything, and the value of nothing"
:) I still don't want any.
The dirt racing industry as a whole is typically ignored by model companies. I am VERY happy that this is being produced. Would love if a truly updated 1/24 plastic sprint car kit would be done.
When i originally saw that Wes' and Salvinos were doing the modified, my first thought was "can it be converted to dirt?"
It's too bad that the model industry doesn't comprehend how popular dirt track racing is. I would imagine that getting the typical dirt fan to get interested in building models would be the hard part.
According to what Steve sent me the availability date of these is now early May
I can't post pics here for some reason. I'm sure that it's on my end. Anyway, I sent Dave and Speedracer a screenshot of a catalog update that I received from Model Round Up saying that they would have the kits in May 2026. Hoping that all of us that preordered will get ours a little sooner 🤞. Hoping, but not holding my breath.

Not a big fan of the modern day 1:1 scale offerings....same boring, non-descript modern late model in kit form only difference that I can tell is the colors and decals.

I don't disagree with you at all. I love the old school late models built from a real car. That said, I enjoy the new chassis, spring and shock technology. All of that said, personally I like asphalt late models much more than dirt late models.
