DK: The barbecue is smelling fine in the barbecue capital of the world and the smell of burnt rubber and racing fuel only makes it sweeter! Hello, everyone, I'm Dave Knight along with my colleague Hick Strutlin. Welcome to Hog City Speedway in Lexington, North Carolina for the 3rd and 4th races in the 2025 FAST Modifieds season, the Pepsi Twin 50s. A little different type of show tonight, it's 2 fast 50 lappers on this 1/8 of a mile facility. Each race awards its own points and the race 2 starting order will be determined via finishing order plus a field inversion decided by the winner drawing a number 4-9.

HS: Dave, the Fantasy Cup Series ran here back in 2023 so it was after I retired from driving but I am the crew cheif for my wife Luisa. She's ran street stocks here and she says that this type of track is like fighter jets in a gymnasium. The turns are tight and the straightaways are short. It's gonna take a little luck and a LOT of patience.

DK: Indeed, Hick. And now we go to Johnny Jonson for the command!

JJ: Hog City Speedway, are you ready for some racing!? Let's get this show on the road! GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES!!

Green Flag

HS: Let's go hog wild in the barbecue capital of the world!

DK: And Steve Hutson leads them through turns 1 and 2. These laps click off really quick and despite this track being 3 lanes wide, its hard to really get anything done up high. Hutson throws it to the inside again in turns 3 and 4. He's going to lead tyhe opening lap at HCS!

Lap 13

DK: Jerry Lawley is all over the back bumper of Hutson but that 7 car is keeping him at bay.

HS: Meanwhile, Rattlecan Dan just made a huge move right through the middle of Bob Herrin and Slim Tunone! He leapfrogs them and he's up to 5th.

Lap 30

DK: And Steve Hutson goes around coming out of turn 4! He goes back up the track and stops just shy of hitting the front stretch wall!

HS: Looks like the rest of the field makes it through unscathed. Well no, I spoke too soon. Skip Itt got held up but he's gonna get it going again.

DK: Hutson spins his '37 Chevy back around and catches up with the tail end of the field. What happened back there?

HS: Dave, I don't think the 5 car made contact with him. There's a sharp corner wall that separates pit lane from the infield and it looks like Steve may have just caught his left rear tire on it.

White Flag

DK: And with one lap to go, Jerry Lawley has no pressure from behind as Speedracer has just taken the 2nd spot from Randy McGillicuddy. That's about 4 carlengths back from the leader. Lawley dashes down the back stretch and makes a smooth entry into 3 and 4. The checkers are in the air. Jerry Lawley wins Pepsi Twin 50 number 1!

DK: And as he parades that checkered flag around the track, Johnny's gonna bring out the bucket for the invert. Lawley pulls his car to the start/finish line and reaches in to pull out, is that a pig?

HS: It's a little rubber pig! As we look up to the Hog-O-Vision, we see that he's drawn the number 6!

DK: Wasn't expecting it to be on a pig but these Lexington fans love their barbecue. So now these teams have a few minutes to make some adjustments and we'll re-rack'em and do it all again.

HS: And our first winner's gonna have to try and battle back from the middle of the pack. Passing here isn't easy but the only thing that's for sure is that NOTHING is for sure!

DK: Here's how they'll roll off at the drop of the green flag. We've got last week's winner JR Sealey on the point. This is going to be a huge advantage.

Green Flag

HS: And let's do it one more time in Hog City tonight!

DK: Bob Herrin is hanging tough on the outside of Sealey in turns 1 and 2. They are neck and neck down the back stretch and what did I say about the high line not working? I don't think Herrin heard me because he's digging his heels in and giving Razorback a run for his money. Out of turn 4, it's a close one! I think Herrin led that one by inches!

Lap 20

DK: Sealey is finally able to get clear of Herrin after a tremendous battle in the opening part of this race. Herrin settles back in 2nd but he's not lost sight of that green rear bumper of the 46.

Lap 37

HS: And a spinner out of turn 4! Randy McGillicuddy does an identical spin to that of Hutson in race 1 and, guess what? Look who is able to leapfrog the field before the yellow. Steve Hutson! Talk about some poetic justice! That's gonna seat him solidly in 3rd.

White Flag

DK: One lap to go! Sealey had just managed to break away from Bob Herrin who has stuck with him like cheese on a hot plate! But the 46 is free and clear by a car length on the back stretch. Coming through turns 3 and 4, Razorback ran a marvelous race and he takes the checkered flag in Pepsi Twin 50 number 2!

HS: Dave, what a night! 2 races for the price of 1 and both were WELL worth the ticket!

DK: Indeed, and a big swing in the points as Sealey now tops the chart with a 7 point advatage over our first winner tonight, Jerry Lawley. So with that, we'll wrap it up here at Hog City Speedway. For Hick Strutlin, I'm Dave Knight. Thank you for joining us and we'll see you next week at Five Flags Speedway for the K&N 150!

In your wildest dreams. KC BBQ is pretty good, but nowhere close to the pig cooked in Lexington, NC.
Oh yeah, congratulations to the winners. No go out and enjoy some real mouth-watering BBQ.
