Guess what it is.

Added putty to the voids in the wheel and started working on the knock off hub.

MarkJ

Finished the wheel and started on the tire.

MarkJ

Started adding the tread to the tire.

MarkJ

Got the tread finished on the tire. Added some Mr. white putty to smooth the transition from the sides of the tire to the tread. After that I can make the center rib flush with the tread and then prime the tire and wheel with white primer. Then I can start on the Left front wheel and then that tire. Sure is a very slow process. Hoping once all the tires are completed and painted, I can start on the actual body of the car. Or maybe I will call it a day and build a car from a kit.

Mark, I know that I've mentioned this before concerning this build, but I sit here in amazement. It's crazy to me that you are building a model of a race car, where no kit even exists! You're not modifying a kit, you're building from plastic and putty! I guess this is modeling in its truest form.

Your tread looks great, but I keep going back to the wheels and the spokes. It's just nuts to me. Not gonna lie, I'm really anticipating watching you form the body and the interior. Guessing this is going to be a sort of curbside build? If you tell us that you're fabricating and engine and transmission I don't know what I'll do! Seriously buddy, I anticipate each update just to be more amazed.

Thank you so much Steve for your words of encouragement. It will definitely be a curbside build with nothing under the body skin showing. I will do a dash and seat but no driver. Anything you can see like the exhaust I will do but anything else like radiator, engine, or axles won't be done. Thanks again for the kind words.

Man, you must really love this hobby. More skill and patience than I can imagine. Keep on keeping on.

Mark, not sure if you are super dedicated or a little bit loony for tackling this🤣 maybe both. I like to modify and scratch build a little bit, but this is off the charts.

Thanks, Donato and Dave. You're definitely right Dave about the looney part. After the last session with the build things are finally starting to look up a little and I have renewed hope to continue on.

MarkJ

Well guys, I finally came to my senses and decided to end this build. The second tire wasn't looking right at all, and I did not want to make another one and I still had 2 more wheels and tires to do so I realized I was probably never going to finish this build. I put everything I did in a box and eventually I will throw it all away. Maybe somebody else can build a model with just styrene, epoxy putty, regular putty and glue in 1/12 scale, but its sure not me. I'm moving on to a kit model which I will post here eventually. I did learn a lot about using super glue and epoxy putty that I can use on future builds. I never knew I could glue stuff instantaneously with the super glue accelerator that comes in a spray bottle.

I completely get it, that was going to be a daunting build. I give you a hardy salute for even trying.

Completely understood. Supposed to be enjoying this stuff. Lol. But have to say what you did so far was pretty incredible. Never know, you might get the bug to. Never mind. Looking forward to whatever it is you'll do next.

I can't tell you or anyone what to do, but I would at least keep the one wheel as a conversation piece and as a reminder of your excellent skills - it's too nice to throw away

MarkJ

Thanks guys. And drppr76, that's a great idea. I could finish that one tire and wheel completely and put it in a small case just to remind myself of this almost years' worth of work that was definitely a huge learning experience for me. All I need to-do is paint the tire and wheel and assemble it. I'm kind of curious how it would have turned out.
