Was going through a box this evening, curious as to what was all in it. I just thought it was most of a collection of Johnny Lightning 1/64th scale cars as that was what was on top. have opened this box at various times and usually closed it back up, as it was not something I was looking for. But early this evening, I started taking these blister packs out and sitting on the bottom were a couple of items that I thought had gotten lost/misplaced when I moved out of one place Oct. 2000,  less than a year before I moved away from Calif, for FL followed by the move to Albuquerque, then to Iowa.
Lo and behold.....there were the 2 "sets" of Hot Wheels "Cool Classics in the display cases that were part of the series, but the 1st one I got most likely sometime in 1999 that consists of a late '40 Ford Woody, with a 2 wheel trailer and sitting behind the trailer, a '60's era sprint car (pre-roll cage) and the other issued in 2000, with a mid-'50's Customized Ford P/U, with same trailer, just different color, also with a pre-roll cage sprint, just different paint and #'s.....
A very nice little surprise for me, as I had basically given up on ever seeing these again.................after "losing" them for just about 18 years.....If Mattel ever released any more of these I don't know....
However, around the same time, I came up with a '59 El Camino in a small display case, along with a sprint car on a trailer, also in a small display case, but were not actually a special set as the above mentioned.....Also found another sprint car, but no trailer and was just in a simple blister pack type case......Those have been out on a shelf shortly after I moved into the house I'm in now.....

Gonna' have to take pics of these and find a way to get them posted here.....

Talk about making my day.....!!

This was back when I was big in to collecting 1/64th NASCAR die cast, and when those were "scarce", meaning i was more or less caught up with new released NASCAR, I would go hunting other 1/64th die cast, if the subject(s) interested me.....

Also finally "uncovered" 3 IMCA style late models that i knew I had, but had been packed away, when they were packed away when I moved from the house to the apt in Albuquerque, when former roommie was headed for Australia....

Funny you mentioned all of this. I just moved and found one of those race car packs too. Packed it away and haven't come across it yet. But, I've got a lot of hobby stuff to unpack so I suppose I'll find it again. Are they worth anything? I down sized to a manufactured home in a community here in Brooksville, Fl. Don't have much space so some stuff has to go!

Rett,
Have no idea what they are worth today, though one would not be worth much as it was taken out of the 'display' box that it came in, and most likely with that move, the outer box was tossed. But then as still now,

But then, I'm not interested in getting rid of them....

Bought them at a Hobby Store in Southern Calif, just a couple of miles or so South of Knott's Berry Farm, called Prestige Hobbies. That store was BIG into Mattel Hot Wheels, and at that time, had quite a collection of special editions of Hot wheels, to where they had locked upright display cases  for the special editions in various scales.
Have never seen any other hobby store that had as many Hot Wheels cars, older issues in particular ($$$). They also had GMP 1/18 WoO sprint cars as well, along with the early releases of 1/18 Indy cars of the past (prior to Replicarz) as back then those were just above $100. Wished those had  come out when I got started in collecting 1/64th NASCAR diecast, might have gone that route....but maybe not.....lol
