Hey there, TarheelRick and all who are in the path of Florence' please be safe and just know that y'all are in my prayers!!!  I've never been through a hurricane so I can't even imagine what you're facing in the next few days and beyond.  Please take all necessary measures to stay safe because I want to see everyone back here real soon.  🌪🙏🙏🙏

Thanks for the prayers Greg and John.  I am well inland, as a matter of the fact I am at the foot of the mountains.  We are expecting some winds maybe as high as 40 mph gusts and a deluge of rain - reports are anywhere from 15-30 inches.  This morning I read Florence has dropped to a Cat 2, so she may be dying out before landfall and all this scare tactics was for naught.
When I win the Powerball I will switch to the real ones.

I'm glad you're not close to the coast but the rain you're likely to get comes with a ton of disaster also.  Here in Newton, Iowa we had over ten inches of rain last week which we all thought was crazy but 15-30 inches is hard to imagine.  However it goes, please stay safe!!!

Can agree that hurricanes are NO fun......Rode out 3 that came through the Orlando area in 2004 and not all that far apart. 1st one came in off the Gulf and the other 2 off the Atlantic. The 2 off the Atlantic were not as a direct hit on where we were living at the time, so not as bad as the one that came in off the gulf as that came directly over Orlando. On the East side of Orlando, we lost power from Fri. night to Sun. afternoon. other 2 lights flickered, but never lost power.......

The ironic thing, was that all 3 hit on late Fri and were gone by Sun.....never lost a day of work..........

By mid July, we were in Albuquerque.......
