1937 Ford
« on: January 26, 2021, 09:41:00 AM »
Finished this as a birthday "surprise" for a friend, Todd Jensen. The original color was burgundy -the photo was a bit faded. Homemade decals. The model is a replica of his Dad's (Carroll) '37 Ford that he race in the mid-1950s at Tunis Speedway in Waterloo, IA and surrounding county fairs. Todd himself has raced over fifty years, mainly in the IMCA modified division.

This was car racing not wallet racing. Innovation was the name of the game. I love these old cars, they’re a window into how these guy thought.

Very nice Happy Birthday build! Your attention to detail on this is outstanding, right down to the vents inside the front fenders. Your work just keeps getting better and better Bob. Well done!!!
I appreciate people that actually build and post models.

I gotta say "wow" also. A cool looking racer and a cool looking replica. That's a great big sponsor ad too.

THANKS John, Marty, OND, David, Tom, Hondo, Ed, Tony, and Rett!  It was a fun build - tried to make it as factual as I could with what knowledge I had of the car.  It seems to be more gratifying to build something for someone other than yourself.  Todd was surprised and really liked it!

Everything is OUTSTANDING this is a great replica.  Even though I never saw the car race you have really captured the look and feel of the car based on the pic of the original and where did you find the chains for the doors?
