'63 Chrysler
« on: June 21, 2017, 05:32:17 PM »
I built this JoHan Chrysler in 1963 as a 'stock' model when I was 13 years old. About a year later I cut off the front fenders with the intention of building a "late model" short track stock car of this era.  Race cars did not require front fenders in our local area until mid-1967.
Well, that build-up never got off the ground, as I used the body to 'improve' my hand-lettering techniques as a teenager.  (Sadly, I don't believe my skills have improved much).
Recently I dusted-off the 'ol body and restarted my task of 50-some years ago - building a fictional race car of a local driver that raced an early-50s Chrysler with an early hemi at Tunis Speedway, the local dirt track.

David - No, Ed did not drive a Chrysler...I was just practicing his name for another model - the same goes for the #171, a Cal Swanson Chevy I later built.
