Coil over shocks
« on: July 21, 2017, 10:20:43 PM »
Ordered this set of 3D printed coil overs from Custom Dirt Cars  Shapeways store. They look cool enough, I'll send actual pics when I have them in my hand.

Man...those DO look good! I'm anxious to see if they come apart or if they are all one piece. Either way...they look good. Waiting for your update Tom...

Ok! My shocks arrived yesterday. They are 3D printed in one piece. I cut one end of a coil loose and you can push it down the shock just like a spring. Not sure how I'll go about painting them for a build. I know it's upside down, but that eyelet happened to fit the axle. I shot a coat of aluminum metalizer on one so it would photograph better. I think they look really good, and should be easy to use. Dwight at Custom Dirt Cars is revamping his business and all orders are being processed through Shapeways now. He many more parts, and will be adding them to his Shapeways store in the future. They're probably 1/24th scale, but I think they'll look OK on a 1/25 scale late model. Glad to have these cool shocks!

Thanks for posting your update Tom. I like how they look. I can see how a person could make those into adjustable shocks by maybe cutting the top off cut the springs away...drill a hole in the top and the body for the piston...wrap a piece of colored wire for the spring and it's good to go. I think I need a few sets of these...
