1930 "A" Hot Rod

The Revell kit slightly modified. Drilled the visor, opened the trunk, made a canvas top insert. The chassis is Krylon satin black and the body is Tamiya Clear Blue over Light Gunmetal. The engine is custom mixed enamel and brush painted. I flocked the floor plan but left the interior in an unfinished form and my Molotow Chrome marker for touch up. Just finished up last weekend, comments welcome...

I love this build. It is a very nice period piece. The engine is very nicely weathered, and, if it were wired, and plumbed, it would be hard to tell this is a model if other things in the background didn’t give it away.

Now yur talkin'! Street Rods and Customs are my other interests.....Had quite a few in my day. This one is absolutely the way they should look. Not over done with chrome and billet! I built them to drive. Had a '32 Ford sedan delivery, pro built with about 10 grand in paint and I took it to the mall. Everyone thought I was crazy!!!!

Balance between chrome and getting home is important.
As far as wires and other detail goes, I really tried to keep it simple and let the model speak for itself.

That is one COOL Hot Rod!!!   Also one of my favorite body styles, especially the "sun visor".....somehow that gives it a mean look!

  Is that the stock top or is it slightly chopped? I’m asking because a high school classmate wants a model of the “A” he drove in high school, which was basically stock. The other issue is it was a 1929 coupe, instead of the ‘30/31 version. I hope I can graft the cowl of the ‘29 roadster pickup onto the ‘30 and make a convincing ‘29 coupe.

Lucky!! I didn’t get one yet and the way it’s looking may never get one! Oh well!!
